It's been awhile since I last posted on my blog. After finishing the crocheted fabric purse, I just wasn't feeling very motivated and in a funk due to all the negative stuff going on in our country. And, why bother making quilts that I can't show anywhere. Why bother dying more fabric, when I am running out of room storing the fabric I've already created?
But then the urge to create struck again and here's what's up on my design wall now.
Sometimes it's hard to continue on any path... we're going through a hard time right now, but we as a people are hardy and resilient. We will get through this. For me, the creative process has always been a source of joy and fulfillment. Yes, being able to share with others adds to that, but if I don't create, I will be denying a gift that has brought me through the hardest of times. Jeanne, I hope your creativity will help to bring you hope and healing to get you through the sorrow and despair we are all feeling right now. We will find a way! <3
ReplyDeleteThank you for your encouraging words. We are going through such a difficult, divisive time as a country. But you are so right about the act of creating bringing joy. Today I had fun just playing around with discharging some fabric and learned how to make my own bleach pen very inexpensively. (Thank you Pinterest!)
ReplyDeleteI also finished a very small art quilt started in 2008. I've been going through a lot of closets and boxes. I just have way too much stuff. How blessed I am! When I came across this folder from a workshop given by Sonya Lee Barrington, I told myself that I needed to either finish it right away or toss it! It felt good to bring it to closure and I'll be posting it soon.
That's the spirit! Create, heal, share. And we can all do our part by reviving the art of communication, civility and kindness, don't you think? That's something I'm working very hard on these days... <3
