My students recently completed their Notan projects. Notan is the Japanese design concept which focuses on a balance of light and dark, positive and negative. Students made some amazing pieces.
The students seemed to enjoy it. There were some who just couldn't understand the concept and flipped the black pieces out in reverse or overlapped them, etc., but 90% of the student 'got it.' Great inspiration for quilts as well.
I love these! Reminds me of some projects we did in my Drawing & Design class in H.S. Always good to remember!
