Fabric Manipulation with Slashing and Blooming Squares

I have finished all the slashing and sewing on my latest piece. I really like it a lot but it did get kind of 'wonky' from all the manipulation. So the next challenge is to  figure out how to deal with that and I think I have an idea. To be continued....

Fabric Manipulation and Feather Stitch

This week I've been working more on my fabric manipulation piece,
slashing away at it and stiching down triangles of fabric.

I've also been doing more embroidering on the soy-waxed, ice dyed vintage tablecloth, as part of the Take a Stitch Tuesday Challenge.  This week's stitch was the feather stitch.

I did an open and closed feather stitch as well as eighty plus french knots. We have a lot of trees in blossom right now due to the unseasonably warm weather we have been having, so that was my inspiration for this week's design.

Chain Stitch on Soy Waxed Ice-Dyed Fabric

Been busy with lots of  not so fun projects, like taxes, Medicare stuff, etc.  But found time to continue with participating in TAST (Take a Stitch Tuesday) and this last week's stitch was the chain stitch.  Here's my example done on my vintage soy-waxed- ice-dyed,  linen tablecloth, given to me by a friend.

I'm really enjoying the embroidery. It brings back a lot of fond memories.  My mom taught all three of her daughters to embroider.  On long trips, we would take along a dresser cloth, pillow case, or towel to work on in the car. It made the time pass more quickly so we weren't constantly asking, "Are we there yet?"

Circles Pizzaz Quilt Finished

I finished my Circles Pizzaz Quilt Friday. I started the quilt in a class taught by Judy Sisneros  in February of 2016. Due to working, life, etc., it sat in a box for quite a awhile. As I was recovering from surgery, I slowly went back to work on it. Below is a picture of it finished. I'm very pleased with it. I feel more confident working with curves after doing this quilt.

Here is a beautiful Iris that is blooming in my garden. It's been in the 70's here in Paso Robles, which is way too warm for this time of year.
